STATEMENT OF THE EMBASSY OF ECUADOR ON VIRAL VIDEO ABOUT THE EARTHQUAKE IN ECUADOR

The Embassy of Ecuador in the United States would like to express its gratitude to all those who have voiced their solidarity with the people of Ecuador, especially those directly affected by the devastating earthquake.
There are many laudable private and non-governmental initiatives that have joined the government’s efforts to provide relief to those affected. We welcome all these initiatives, yet we encourage everyone to verify the organizations, the destiny of funds, and the track-record of each organization you consider for donations.

It has come to the attention of the Embassy that fundraising campaigns are using official websites like www.ecuador.org in promotional videos as part of their awareness campaign. These campaigns have no connection with the Embassy.

The official government account for international donations is:

Swift: CITIUS33
ABA: 021000089
NY checking’s account number: 36360112
Account Name: TERREMOTO ECUADOR/ EARTHQUAKE ECUADOR
Zip Code: 10043
Telephone number: 001-813-604-7062

The Embassy of Ecuador in Washington, DC and all the consulates across the United States have a donation drive in several locations. We encourage people to donate water purifiers, canned and dry food, large tents, sleeping bags, hygienic kits, portable lampas (LED or rechargeable), and kitchen utensils. These items will be delivered to people directly affected by the earthquake. For locations and all other pertinent information please go to www.ecuador.org
