OPERATION WALK VIRGINIA a private, not-for-profit volunteer medical service organization that provides free surgical treatment for patients in developing countries requiring knee and hip interventions is planning to bring their next mission to Ecuador in early summer this year. Their plan is to perform joint replacement surgery on 60 patients.

OPERATION WALK VIRGINIA organization is led by Dr. Gerald Engh of Anderson Orthopedic Clinic and Innova Health System. Julia Warner and Erika Pitts clinical coordinators recently traveled to Ecuador to visit with the Ministry of Health and the Hospital in Ecuador where the operations will take place and to go-over the list of requirements to make this medical mission a success.

The entire project is being coordinated by Fundacion Futuro of Ecuador and their affiliate Fundacion Futuro USA, Inc. The mission has received special cooperation from Ecuadorian authorities, Ricardo Bowen the Hon. Consul of Ecuador in Dallas, Texas and Hon.Luis Gallegos the Ambassador of Ecuador in the USA.
