ECUADOR PARTICIPATES FOR THE FIRST TIME IN NEW YORK’S FAMOUS CHOCOLATE SHOW

The Trade Office of Ecuador in New York organized Ecuador’s participation, for the first time with an institutional stand, in the New York Chocolate Show, whose 13th annual event took place in the Manhattan’s Metropolitan Pavilion, from November 11-14, 2010.

This show is dedicated completely to chocolate, being the most important and specialized of its kind in the United States and is organized in the cities of various countries around the world, such as England, France, Russia, China, Spain, Egypt and Japan. More than 65 companies of fine chocolate from all over the world participated in this year’s event and offered their products to nearly 12,000 visitors.

Additionally, there were special events within the New York Chocolate Show like the Chocolate Fashion Show, cooking demonstrations with chefs specializing in chocolate, and author signings of chocolate-themed books in the Barnes & Noble bookstore, among others.

The businesses of Antidote, Kallari and Pacari formed part of Ecuador’s stand, whose products caused quite the sensation among visitors and the event’s press, by presenting a different proposal: certified organic dark chocolate, on the basis of the best fine cocoa flavor in the world.


VOTING REGISTRATION FOR ECUADORIAN CITIZENS

The General Consulate of Ecuador in Washington, D.C., invites all Ecuadorian citizens and residents of the states of Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia and of the District of Columbia to come update their personal data for voting registration.

Bring your Ecuadorian passport or identification card.

There is no cost.

To register you may visit the Consulate from Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm.


TRAINING WORKSHOP AND UPDATES FOR CONSULS OF ECUADOR IN THE UNITED STATES

The training workshop and updates are directed towards the Consuls of Ecuador in the United States and will take place on December 2 and 3 in the Embassy of Ecuador in Washington. To be addressed are themes relating to consulate theory and practice, overseas voting, consulate services for citizens, commercial development in investments in Ecuador, tourism promotion, human trafficking and smuggling, and programs and coordination with the National Secretariat for Migrants (SENAMI), among others.

To such an effect, the participation of government officials will be counted on from the Undersecretary of Migration, Consular and Refuge Issues of the Foreign Ministry; from the Ministry for the Coordination of Production, Employment and Competitiveness; from the Ministry of Tourism; from the SENAMI; as well as the United States’ Departments of State, Health and National Security.

The Embassy of Ecuador, in coordination with the Directorate General of Consular Affairs and Services of the Foreign Ministry, has organized this workshop for the purpose of providing the Consuls with all of the information they require in order to be able to efficiently develop their work, and effectively address the Ecuadorian community that is living in the United States.

ECUADOR PARTICIPÓ POR PRIMERA VEZ EN EL FAMOSO “CHOCOLATE SHOW” DE NUEVA YORK

La Oficina Comercial del Ecuador en Nueva York organizó la participación ecuatoriana, por primera vez con un stand institucional, en el New York Chocolate Show, cuya 13ra edición tuvo lugar en el Metropolitan Pavilion de Manhattan, entre el 11 y 14 de noviembre del año en curso.

Este show está dedicado completamente al chocolate, siendo el mas importante y especializado en su naturaleza en Estados Unidos y se organiza en ciudades de varios países del mundo como Inglaterra, Francia, Rusia, China, España, Egipto y Japón. En esta edición participaron más de 65 compañías de chocolate fino del mundo que ofrecieron sus productos a los cerca de 12.000 visitantes.

Hubo, además, eventos especiales dentro del New York Chocolate Show como el Chocolate Fashion Show, demostraciones de cocina con chefs especializados en chocolate, la firma de autógrafos de libros cuya temática es el chocolate en la Librería Barnes & Noble, entre otros.

Formaron parte del stand ecuatoriano las empresas Antidote, Kallari y Pacari, cuyos productos causaron sensación entre los visitantes y prensa especializada, por presentar una propuesta diferente: chocolate obscuro con certificación orgánica, a base del mejor cacao fino de aroma del mundo.


REGISTRO DE DOMICILIO ELECTORAL PARA ECUATORIANOS

El Consulado General del Ecuador en Washington D.C invita a todos los ciudadanos ecuatorianos residentes en los Estados de Delaware, Maryland, Virginia , West Virginia y en el Distrito de Columbia a que acudan a la actualización de datos personales para el registro de su domicilio electoral.

Se deberá portar pasaporte ecuatoriano o cedula de identidad.
No tiene costo.
Para el empadronamiento se atiende de lunes a viernes, 9:00 a 17:00 horas.
